Baby Gear Inventory: Track Strollers, Car Seats, and Nursery Equipment

Baby gear can move quickly from everyday use to closets, garages, and storage bins. A clear inventory helps you keep major items, accessories, receipts, and condition notes together, especially when gear is shared, stored for later, or passed between children.

Start with the largest and most distinctive items

Create separate records for strollers, car seats, cribs, bassinets, high chairs, carriers, monitors, swings, play yards, and nursery furniture. Add the brand, model, color, purchase date, and clear photos. For powered devices, capture the product label and model number separately.

Photograph accessories and identifying labels

Take an overall photo of each item, then close-ups of labels, removable parts, and accessories. Include stroller adapters, rain covers, bassinets, car-seat bases, chargers, straps, trays, manuals, and storage bags. A photo showing an item together with its accessories makes a later check much easier.

Use condition notes that stay practical

• Record visible wear, stains, scratches, missing pieces, or repaired parts.
• Note whether an item is assembled, folded, or packed in its original box.
• Add a short location such as “nursery closet, top shelf” or “garage rack, blue tote.”
• Keep receipts, order confirmations, and service documents with the relevant item record.
• Update the entry when an item is sold, donated, replaced, or moved to storage.

Keep sets together

Some baby gear works as a system: a stroller with a bassinet attachment, a car seat with a base, or a crib with conversion hardware. List the main item first, then add its parts and where they are stored. This avoids losing a small but essential attachment when gear is packed away.

Review stored gear before reuse

When bringing an item back into use, check the record, accessories, and visible condition first. Update photos and notes if the item has changed or been repaired. For product-specific care and safety guidance, use the manufacturer’s current instructions.
