RV equipment is often packed into exterior bays, under-seat compartments, cabinets, and a home garage between trips. A simple inventory helps you see what is already onboard, what belongs at home, and where small but essential accessories are stored.

Photograph the main equipment and storage areas

Start with wide photos of exterior compartments, cabinets, and labeled bins. Then photograph larger equipment such as awnings, portable power equipment, leveling gear, tables, chairs, and cooking equipment. Clear photos make it easier to identify an item and its usual storage space before a trip.

Group supplies by how you use them

Create practical groups for campsite setup, cooking, water and electrical accessories, tools, outdoor furniture, and recovery or maintenance supplies. Keep each group tied to a storage location such as “rear exterior bay” or “kitchen cabinet, lower shelf.”

Record the details that prevent mix-ups

Add model names or visible labels for powered equipment and larger accessories.
List cables, adapters, hoses, locks, and other pieces that work with a main item.
Save receipts, manuals, or service notes you want to retain.
Use brief condition notes for missing, worn, or repaired parts.

Review the list before and after trips

Use the inventory as a packing check before departure, then update it when equipment is moved, replaced, or left at home. If items are shifted to a garage or storage unit for the season, update the location so the next trip starts with an accurate record.
